Update on the Essings

The picture isn't the best, but I had to post it. Katy is still on bed rest but was able to come home earlier this week!! She had a doctor appointment today and it looks like she is handling the transition just fine! She is happy to be home - especially since her husband is also on "bed rest." Luke fell off a ladder last weekend and broke his knee cap. He had surgery on Tuesday and will be in a cast for 6 weeks! What luck! At least they have lots of time to spend together during this time! Fortunately for them, both of their moms have been staying with them and are waiting on them hand and foot!! I think they are enjoying the royal treatment! :)

Kennedy - 1 month old!

I can't believe Kennedy is already one month old!! She started smiling at us this week! It's amazing how quickly time goes by! She is still a very good baby. She is definitely more laid back than her wild brother!

Kaeden still loves Baby "Kiki." He is such a good big brother (so far!) :)

Christmas Tree

Kaeden had a fun time helping me decorate the tree, although he wasn't always too helpful! :)

More November Pics

My mom came to visit the kids. Kaeden had a blast with her! She was a lot of help for me - I don't think I would have gotten the Christmas tree up without her this year!!

Kennedy finally got to meet Great Grandma Dar at Thanksgiving! We wish we could see her more often!

Proud Grandpa Bob - He's a natural! :) I wonder if we can get him to change a diaper!! HA!

Grandpa Al came to visit with Jenna and his girlfriend, Laurie, and Laurie's daughter Tori. Kaeden put on quite a show for him!!

Kaeden LOVES Auntie Jenna - or "Lela," as he calls her! We wish she lived closer so we could spend more time with her! She is a very good babysitter! :)

Kaeden has been going through a phase where he likes to take off his clothes and run all around the house. We're going to have our hands full with him!!


Kaeden has started expressing some desire to use the potty. He hasn't actually gone yet - he just has fun getting on and off the potty! We bought him his own potty so we might start working on that after the first of the year!

2 weeks (11.19.08)

Kennedy Marie is 2 weeks old already! She weighed 7lbs 11oz at her 2 week appointment, so she gained 1 pound in the past week. We were very pleased!! She is still a little peanut though! :)

Grandma Lynne

Grandma Lynne has been staying with us for the past few weeks. We have enjoyed having her here! She has spent a lot of time with Katy also. For those of you that don't know, Nate's sister Katy has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks due to having some complications with her twin pregnancy. She is now 23 weeks pregnant. The twins are growing and doing well, but we want to keep those baby boys in as long as possible! Please keep her, Luke, and the twins in your thoughts and prayers!! :)

Kennedy's Picture Day (11.17.08)

We had Kennedy's pictures taken today - I can't wait to get the professional shots back! We think she did pretty well for her first photo shoot! :) It sure is fun to doll her up!

Kaeden and Kennedy

Kaeden is doing pretty well with his baby sister so far. He likes to tickle her toes and "honk" her nose, so we have to keep a good eye on him! He has given Kennedy her first nickname - "Kiki."

Kennedy's Nursery

We still have some work to do on the room. My uncle Brent is making us storage cubbies for the closet and we also need to get Kennedy's name above her bed. We weren't 100% sure on Kennedy's name until 20 minutes after her birth, so we couldn't get her name done sooner!

The Wild Man (11.9.08)

Oh, the joy of granting your child independence! We marched straight up to the bathtub after our spaghetti meal. Kaeden hasn't skipped a beat since the arrival of his baby sister!

Welcome Home, Kennedy! (11.7.08)

We feel so blessed to have two great kids. It's hard to believe that we are now a family of four! I can't imagine life without either of them!!

It was cold and rainy for the trip home so we had to bundle the little princess up! She looks so tiny in her carseat!!

Kennedy Marie Malloy (11.5.08)

Kennedy Marie Malloy was born on 11.5.08 at 2:24 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and was 19.75 inches long. It was a quick and easy delivery and she has been a pretty easy-going baby so far. We pray that continues, because her big brother is a wild man!!

Happy Halloween (10.30.08)

Kaeden had his first trick-or-treat experience tonight. We had a heck of a time finding a costume that he would wear this year. We tried an Elmo costume, but he would not go for it. He ended up being a doctor because he didn't realize he was in costume. We couldn't get the scrub hat on him, but it was still awfully cute!

Little Hawkeye (10.26.08)

Kaeden is a true Hawkeye fan. At 18 months, he already loves to watch football and play catch! He even throws a fit some days if I will not dress him in Hawk Gear. I had no idea this would start so early!! Daddy loves it, of course! :)

Kaeden is always going a "mile a minute" these days, so it is amazing that I caught him with eye contact on this picture!

37 Weeks Pregnant and READY TO POP! (10.20.08)

I am MORE than ready for Baby Girl Malloy to arrive. I am SO huge and uncomfortable. I can't even believe I am posting this picture for you all to see, but it is awfully cute of Kaeden! We talk about "The Baby" a lot and he seems very excited (as much as he can understand), but it will definitely be a transition for him! He has been our WORLD for 18 months now and it will be interesting to see how he handles sharing the spotlight with his baby sister!

Owen's Bday Party and Football Game (10.19.08)

We had a great time celebrating our nephew Owen's 7th birthday and watching his football game. Kaeden and Cousin Olivia had their own game of football and chase going on!

Cory and Lori Braunschweig's Wedding (10.11.08)

Kaeden was a handful at the wedding, but he sure ripped it up on the dance floor!

Pumpkinfest at Earl May (10.11.08)

We took Kaeden to Pumpkinfest at Earl May. He walked through a maze, painted a pumpkin, put on a fireman hat, and stood inside of a real firetruck! He had a blast! :)
